The Digifly FMS 200 is a new artificial horizon with solid state ultra fast gyroscopic sensors, immune from radio interference, easy to employ and to manage. These are only some of the innovative characteristics of the FMS 200.
The FMS 200 is electronic instrumentation similar to those used for General Aviation with a colour display - visible in all light conditions and from all angles. The instrumentation is completely new: the artificial horizon has a completely new sensor, equipped with three of latest generation ultra fast electronic gyroscopes (measuring 20 readings /second). It is mounted directly inside the unit, which makes it very fast at displaying instantaneous readings of the movements of the aircraft.
It has an extremely easy-to-read graphical representations of roll, pitch, GPS heading, slip, G-meter (on the three axis), 3 altimeters, variometer and anemometer, all represented in a single clear display screen.
For motor instrumentation, there is a new fuel display. It calculates the necessary information to fly the route. It is possible to use all the pre-installed probes of the motor; the Digifly system can be connected in parallel to the traditional instruments and a high level of shielding protects the instrumentation from radio interferences.
Another revolutionary innovation is the facility to manage your flight data at home. You can visualise in 3D your flights, examine flight data, load and download flights and all other software operations at home.
In particular, the FMS 200 uniquely has 2 removable USB key drives. Flights can be logged directly in IGC format on to the first USB key drive and removed to connect to a PC for later analysis. The second USB key drive can be used to upload up to 10 different navigation maps. Having uploaded all necessary data it is possible to view the landing field (photo) on approach. The routes and IGC Logger are compatible with all the major route visualization and management programs (e.g. CompeGPS, Leisures Explorer and Avioportolano).
Each student-pilot can have their own USB key drive in order to monitor each phase of their training. This allows for better post flight debriefings but also allows the instructor to monitor how the aircraft is used.
This can also be useful for monitoring aircraft used for rental purposes. Each FMS 300 unit can be set to only recognise the owner’s USB key drive so it can be used to prevent unauthorised use of the aircraft.
Software upgrades for the FMS 300 are managed via the USB key drive. Software updates downloaded from the internet on the the USB key drive automatically upgrade the system software on insertion back in to the FMS 300.
